About Ed Funk:

Edmund T. Funk

Ed retired in December 1999 after 37 years in the Graphic Arts Industry, 33 of which were spent with Sun Chemical Corporation, the world's largest manufacturer of printing inks and pigments. His career there included positions of V.P. of Research and Development and V.P. of Sales and Marketing. He holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Wagner College, Staten Island, NY and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn , NY, in Chemical Engineering and Polymer Chemistry, respectively.

Ed spent most of his adult life in New Jersey (Jersey City and Ramsey) prior to 13 years in Naperville, IL, a western suburb of Chicago. In February 2000, Ed and his wife Kathy, moved to the Low country of South Carolina and now reside in Bluffton after 3 years on Callawassie Island. They have four grown sons, who live with their families in Richmond, VA, Bethesda, MD, Basking Ridge, NJ, and Marietta, GA.

Ed has always enjoyed photography and since his retirement has been blessed with the opportunity to spend time shooting pictures of wildlife and nature scenes, his true love.

In 2002, Ed and Kathy created Vista Enterprises, their small photographic services company. His work has been recognized via regular feature articles in Bluffton Today, The Beaufort Gazette, The Island Packet, The Bluffton City Sun, Lowcountry Weekly, 101 Things To Do on Hilton Head, and other local newspapers and magazines. In fact, Ed's photographs have graced the cover of The Bluffton Breeze magazine since its inception in 2002.

He was the feature artist at The Beaufort Art Association Gallery in August 2003 and June 2010, Bluffton's Pluff Mudd Gallery in April 2004, and The Hilton Art League Gallery in August 2004 and 2008, respectively. Additionally, he was selected Featured Artist at The Society of Bluffton Artists in February 2008 and The Hilton Head Framing Gallery in September 2005. Additionally, Ed was selected as Artist in Residence for USC Beaufort's "Artists in Residence" programs on Pritchards Island, SC, for a number of years. He is currently Photographic Editor for INZANDOUTS, an internet resource for the traveler seeking real life experiences.

Ed is a member and past President of the Camera Club of Hilton Head Island as well as the Beaufort Photography Club.

Ed's photography can be regularly seen at The Beaufort Art Association Gallery, Fordham Market in Beaufort, Green Fish Gallery in Beaufort, The Hilton Art League Gallery, The Society of Bluffton Artists Gallery, and Bluffton's Pluff Mudd Gallery, where he is a partner.

My Vision:

If you are fortunate enough to live or travel to the places that nature rules, you've surely encountered its limitless beauty. Maybe you have come upon a scene that was so spectacular that you had to stop in your tracks, speechless and awed by what you saw. I have been lucky enough to find many of these vistas, and with camera in hand, have captured some of that beauty. As a caretaker of these images, I humbly offer some of my best photos of the breathtaking scenes that surround us all. My wish is that you might enjoy one of nature's finest views every day on your living room or office wall, and let it inspire and refresh you anew each time you view it.
